About

Totleywells, is a place we like to call home - a place for holidays, a place for horses.

We became the owners of Totleywells and begun our renovation in November 2022. The renovation took sixteen months, and we believe we have created what we set out to - a place for horses to be horses and owners to enjoy all that they are capable of, while knowing that their horse is cared for to their highest standards and their own ambitions, however large or small, collectively worked towards. We were also creating a place for people to holiday and enjoy our horses, the views, the countryside, and all that Edinburgh and its surrounding rural areas has to offer.

Totleywells is a place where people are kind - to each other and to our horses. The welfare of our horses, clients, visitors and team is at the heart of what we do, and at the core of our ethos.

In April 2024, we launched Totleywells Grange, our six bedroom holiday house and coming soon, our Shepherd’s Huts, for visitors who come with or without their horses to enjoy our environment just 20 minutes from Edinburgh, close to and with views of South Queensferry’s three bridges and the Pentland Hills.

  • Designed for training use in professional yards, our surface is perfect for any grade of competition including those at the highest level.

    High-performance, dust free, wax coated system is extremely durable and capable of withstanding the rigours of heavy use.

    Horses travel freely over the surface as synthetic fibres act as a ‘root structure’ similar to the best turf.

    Provides a secure and forgiving surface that will reduce repetitive strain injury.

  • We have a full set of Jump4Joy Show Jumps and Arena XC Jumps suitable for all levels.

Technical XC Field with 30 jumping elements (inc ditches, banks, water)

  • Designed for training use our Technical XC field has all you need to prep for your next event.

    With Banks from 60cm to 1m, Ditches 80cm to 1m, a water splash, logs, rolls, brushes and a full range of Jump4Joy portable XC which can be added in.

  • We have a full set of Jump4Joy Arena XC Jumps suitable for all levels which can be added into our Technical XC field to achieve the training course you need.

  • With its brand new light panels in the roof, walls and apexes. Our indoor arena is equipped with poles and cavaletti, dressage mirrors, and a teaching viewing elevated viewing corridor at the end of the arena.

COMING SOON! Our new larger XC field with bigger jumps and extra fun!

  • A full set of BE jumps we bought from Henderyde BE course, with some new ones added in for fun. Mainly 80cm to 110cm, we also have some 60/70cm elements too. It’s a ‘good ground’ course, so we only allow it to be jumped when the ground is good, and reserve the right to cancel if we’re not happy with ground conditions, for everyone’s sake.

  • When you’re a livery or clinic attendee, or if you’ve booked the XC, you can also hack around our 2km hacking track which surrounds our paddock and XC field. We ask you not to canter past the paddocks, the track is really for cooling down after a training session.
